Lyocell Fiber

Lyocell Fiber

What is Lyocell Fiber?

Lyocell fiber is a type of regenerated cellulose fiber that is made from wood pulp. It is classified as a semi-synthetic fiber because it is made from a natural material, cellulose, which is derived from plants. Lyocell fiber is also known by the brand name TENCEL.

How is Lyocell Fiber made?

Lyocell is made by breaking down the cellulose in wood pulp using a process called dissolution. The resulting solution is then extruded through tiny holes to create long, thin fibers. These fibers are then spun into yarn and used to create fabric.

Why do we use Lyocell Fiber?

Lyocell is often described as a "green" fiber because it is made from renewable wood pulp and does not require the use of harmful chemicals. It also requires less water and energy to produce than other types of fabrics. The production process is also much cleaner than that of other cellulosic fibers such as rayon and viscose.

Lyocell fabric has a number of desirable properties, including being soft, absorbent, and wrinkle-resistant.
