Jute Fiber

Jute Fiber

What is Jute Fiber?

Jute fiber is an organic sustainable fiber, harvested up to three times a year without the use of pesticides. It is often called the "golden fiber" because of its color, but it can also be brown or green. Jute can be used to make everything from shopping bags to carpeting, and is even being used as an eco-friendly alternative to plastic.

How is Jute Fiber made?

Jute fiber comes from the tropical plants Corchorus olitorius and Corchorus capsularis. To make this natural fiber, the stem of the jute plant is first soaked in water. This loosens the fibers and makes them easier to extract. The stem is then chopped into small pieces and left to rot in the water for a few days.

After the jute has rotted, the fibers can be pulled out by hand or with a machine. The fibers are then cleaned, sorted, and spun into yarn.

Why do we use Jute?

Jute is strong and durable, yet soft and comfortable to the touch. Jute is also eco-friendly and sustainable, making it a great choice for eco-conscious consumers. It is one of the cheapest natural fibers and second only to cotton in terms of global production.
